One Step, Two-Step, Foxtrot & their relationship to The Lindy Hop w/Laura (Int) (LIVE MUSIC-Piano)
Learn the dances that came before Lindy Hop and how these dances are nessecary to understanding how the dance was developed. It is essential to know these dances to become a well rounded partner dancer!

Balboa Swing I w/Todd & Mia (All levels)

Quick, Quicks w/Giselle (Adv)
Learn how to execute strong simple movements for fast tempos so you can maintain the pace without over exerting yourself.

11:15-12:15pm
The Rhythm Section & You w/Andy (Adv) (LIVE MUSIC)
What you can learn from the rhythm section to bring more to your dance.

Body Awareness w/Giselle (All levels)
Practice settling movements, weight changes, rhythmic steps and body flow that will help you stand strong on your own two feet - this prepares you to be able to dance with anyone!

The Smooth One w/Giselle (Int/Adv)
Work on smoothing out your Lindy Hop so it feels good to you and your partner.

Transcribing Vintage Dance Clips w/Laura & Amy (Int)
Interpreting, copying, & studying old dance clips is an important part of any swing dancers education. In this class we will talk about how to trascribe old routines we see on screen as well as how mimicking the "spirit" or feeling of the dancers in the clip can be just as important as breaking down the steps perfectly.

Dancing in small spaces, blending styles, & swinging out to trad jazz.

3-4pm
Yes, you can Lindy Hop to Trad Jazz. But you shouldn't always. w/Kerry (Int & Adv) (Live Music)
In New Orleans, we know for a fact it can feel good to swing out to a trad song but we also know its not always a good idea. Let's talk about these things!

Oriental Strut I: A Chorus Line Routine w/Amy (All levels)
Learn an original chorus line routine choreographed by Amy J of The Chorus Girl Project New Orleans and The NOLA Chorus Girls. Dance done to the song "Oriental Strut" by Tuba Skinny, originally recorded by Louis Armstrong's Hot Five in 1926.
All genders welcome. Performance opportunity on Sunday w/Tuba Skinny.

Trickeration I w/Giselle (Adv)
Norma Miller jazz routine, fast and furious - choreographed for the elite dancers of the era. Giselle will be teaching this entire routine over the course of two classes.

From Foxtrot to Lindy Hop w/ Laura (Beg 2)
Your great grandma probably did the foxtrot! Learn the partner dance that came before people started  jitterbugging. This class will work on basic leading and following concepts. This class is a must for all beginning swing dancers!

5:30-6:30pm

Power Hour: The Evolution of a Jazz Step w/Kerry (All Levels)
Learn about the evolution of a jazz step through time and song from the teens to today!

The Frontline & You w/ Andy  (Int) (LIVE MUSIC)
What you can learn from the melody players and soloists to bring more to your dance.

Feelin the (Solo) Blues w/Giselle (All levels)
Expressing oneself through blues and slower music. A musttake class for the solo dance lover or anyone looking to feel more confidant dancing alone.

11:15-12:15pm
St Louis Shag I w/Todd & Mia (All Levels)

The Frontline & You w/ Andy  (Adv) (LIVE MUSIC)
What you can learn from the melody players, and soloists to bring more to your dance.

Tap Drills w/Bobby (All Levels)
Rhythm is essential to all dancing. This class is for all types of dancers to focus specifically on the sounds we make with our feet. NO TAP SHOES REQUIRED!

12:30-1:30pm

Jelly Roll Morton told  folklorist Alan Lomax,  "Of course you may notice the Spanish tinge in it. If one can't manage a way to put these tinges of Spanish in these tunes, they'll never be able to get the right seasoning, I may call it, for jazz music." In this class you will learn how to express yourself to latin & caribbean feels in jazz.

A charleston routine for all ability levels!

The Classics w/Andy (All levels)

Make it up! Making up a song & a dance w/Andy & Laura (Int/Adv) (LIVE MUSIC)
In the 20's and 30's there were fad 'dances' that were basically just endless variations on one step. Think Truckin', Suzy Q, Texas Tommy. Almost all of these had songs that either inspired them - or had songs that were written about them. This class will make both one of these songs and one of these dances.

Not every venue, audience, or gig is the same. Learn insider tips and tools on how to change up the way you perform to be appropriate to the gig. Learn from master street performer turned club performer, Mr Chance Bushman.
